Tunnel 5th Avenue Station (associated with the 5th Avenue and Harrison Alternative) (Preferred alternative )

Map of the Westlake – Tunnel Fifth Avenue Station alternative with boundaries of Olive Way to the north, Seventh Avenue to the east, Union Street to the south, and Third Avenue to the west. The tunnel guideway for this new station runs north and south under Fifth Avenue with a station platform located between Pike Street and Pine Street. Station entry points for this station alternative include two entrances on the northwest corner of the Fourth Avenue and Pine Street crossroad, three entrances on the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and Pine Street, and two entrances on the southeast corner of the Fifth Avenue and Pike Street crossroad. A pedestrian-focused realm will be implemented around the potential station. The borders of this realm are located along each side of Roy Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Street to the north, on the west side of Fifth Avenue between Pine Street and Pike Street to the east, on each side of Pike Street between Fourth Street and Fifth Street to the south, and on the east side of Fourth Avenue to the west. Existing crosswalks to the proposed Westlake – Tunnel Fifth Avenue station area are located at the crossroads of Fourth Avenue and Pine Street, Fifth Avenue and Pine Street, Fourth Avenue and Pike Street, and Fifth Avenue and Pike Street. The streetcar runs north and south on Fifth Avenue North with a stop located south of Stewart Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue and the monorail runs north and south on an elevated track above Fifth Avenue. Current bus routes run east and west on Pike Street and Pine Street, and north and south on Third Avenue, Fifth Avenue, and Sixth Avenue. Active bus bays include a location on the east side of Third Avenue north and south of Pike Street and north of Pine Street, a location on the west side of Fifth Avenue North north of Pine Street, on the east side of Sixth Avenue south of Pine Street, and east and west on the south side of Pike Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue and between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. Active bus bays run east and west on the north side of Pine Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue, and on Pine Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. A paratransit stop is located on the northeast corner of the Fourth Avenue and Pine Street crossroad adjacent the northwest station entrance. Existing bicycle facilities exist north and south on Fourth Avenue up to Pine Street, and east and west on Pike Street, Pine Street, Olive Way, and Stewart Street. Future bicycle facilities exist north and south on Fourth Avenue north of Pine Street, and north and south on Fifth Avenue, and north and south on Seventh Avenue north of Pike Street. Existing bicycle and personal mobility storage is located on the west side of Fifth Avenue between Pine Street and Pike Street and on the north side of Pine Street between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue. Parks and public space are located at Westlake Park on the southeast corner of the Fourth Avenue and Pine Street crossroad and at McGraw Square on the southeast corner of the Stewart Street and Fifth Avenue crossroad. A potential transit-oriented development is located on the west side of Fifth Avenue between Pine Street and Pike Street, and on the southwest corner of the Fifth Avenue and Pike Street crossroad.
