Sound Transit is studying the following station alternatives in SODO.
- At-Grade Station and At-Grade Staggered Station Configuration (Preferred alternative)
- At-grade station on the west side of the existing SODO station. A variation of the alternative would have the west platform of the new station shifted slightly to the north.
- At-Grade South Station Option
- At-grade station and existing SODO station shifted closer to Lander Street
- Mixed Profile Station
- Elevated station and existing SODO Station shifted closer to Lander Street

At-Grade Station and At-Grade Staggered Station Configuration

The at-grade guideway for this new station runs north and south along existing tracks east adjacent Fourth Avenue South with a station platform located between South Stacey Street and South Lander Street. Station entry points for this station alternative include one east of South Stacey Street cul-de-sac on the northwest side of the proposed station alternative and a second entrance west of Fifth Place South. A pedestrian-focused realm will be implemented around the potential station. The borders of this realm include South Stacey Street to the north, Sixth Avenue South to the east, South Lander Street to the south, and Fourth Avenue South to the west. Existing crosswalks to the proposed SODO At-Grade station area are located at crossroads of Fourth Avenue South and South Stacey Street, Fourth Avenue South and South Lander Street, and Sixth Avenue South and South Lander Street. A proposed crosswalk is located at the crossroad of Sixth Avenue South and South Stacey Street. Current bus routes run east and west on South Lander Street, north and south on Fourth Avenue South, and south on Sixth Avenue South from South Stacey Street in the north including a roundabout through Fifth Place South. Active bus bays include two locations on each side of Fourth Avenue South north and south adjacent South Stacey Street as well as on Fifth Place South. A bus layover is located at the roundabout connection between Fifth Place South and Sixth Avenue South. A paratransit stop is located on Fifth Place South east adjacent the east station entrance, south adjacent an active bus bay. Pick-up and drop off sites for automobiles are located on either side of the South Stacey Street cul-de-sac. Existing bicycle facilities exist east and west on South Lander Street but not between Fourth and Fifth Avenues South. Future bicycle facilities include east and west on South Lander Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues South northwest and southeast on Second Avenue Extension South; and north and south on Fourth Avenue South and north and south along the SODO trail east adjacent the proposed SODO At-Grade station alternative. Existing bicycle and personal mobility storage is located at the northwest entrance of the station north of the South Stacey Street cul-de-sac and east of the SODO trail south of the southeast station entrance. Potential transit-oriented developments located on the northwestern block at the crossroad of Sixth Avenue South and South Lander Street and on the block between the Fifth Place South and Sixth Avenue South roundabout.

Pedestrian Access – Key features
- West entrance with pedestrian access from 4th Avenue South and South Stacy Street
- East entrance with pedestrian access from 6th Avenue South and South Stacy Street or the SODO Trail
- Mezzanine level pedestrian bridges in the station connecting the new and existing platforms at both ends
- Sidewalks on a new South Lander Street overpass allow pedestrians to walk between 4th Avenue South and 6th Avenue South without having to wait for light rail trains to pass by
